About the event
Dustin Barksdale has been writing songs since he was a teenager in Roanoke, TX. He attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he majored in Songwriting & Music Business. As a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, he has performed on stages in multiple cities around the country. Upon graduating college in 2012, Dustin began modeling and acting in ad campaigns for Weight Watchers. He has also publicly spoken to many groups and universities about his amazing 110-pound weight loss story. In 2013, Dustin began directing choirs in Irving Independent School District, where he is still currently employed. He has written with Nashville songwriting greats such as Tom Douglas (“The House That Built Me”) & Thom Schuyler (“Long Line of Love”) and has had songs pitched to other artists as well. Whether it is through words, actions, or songs, Dustin seeks to inspire his listeners to better themselves while bettering the world around them. He writes songs to give voice to words others do not know how to say.
