About the event
Artist#1 Keith Carey
Keith Carey and his wife Mona moved to Dallas from Los Angeles in August of 2016. The new dwelling had high ceilings and large white walls that were begging to be filled with original art.
After 3 months Keith and Mona still couldn't find anything that they agreed on for the loft.
Out of frustration, Keith decided to take private lessons with a local artist Cynthia Chartier who taught Keith the fundamentals of painting.
As with most endeavors Keith dove in headfirst and it was only a matter of time that Keith was hooked and opened an art studio in the Artist Quarters at the Southside On Lamar.
Keith uses acrylic paint with some additional layered mediums. No size is to big!
As a former recording artist, Keith loves painting rock stars and icons that have moved, touched and inspired the masses on our planet.
You can contact Keith for commissions, originals and prints @ 818-339-4388

Artist#2 Kathy Baker Mackey Art
A self-taught artist and a late bloomer, I began painting in mid-life, while attending college. My field of study was demanding, painting became my creative outlet and a way to relieve stress.
I fell in love with the feel of the brush and paint as it flowed on the canvas.
I have been blessed to study and attend visual arts workshops with local artists, Niki Gulley, Nancy Medina and Laurie Pace and New York artist, Henry Finkelstein.
With the most important roles in my life, wife, mother and grandmother, I was a “early bloomer.” However, there are many joys in being a late bloomer, one of mine is painting.
God has richly blessed me. I sing His praises through brush strokes and color.
Artist#3 Kally Peterson (permanent installation at Opening Bell Coffee)
Kally Peterson is a local Spearfish artist who brings life to animals through her colorful and eclectic style.
The paintings are created with dry brush and oversized stippling techniques from house paint that she scavenges or repurposes and Sharpie is used for the outlining. In many cases there are more animals under the paintings you see- if the animal does not speak to her she paints them again until she gets the shape, coloring and aesthetic just right.
Her work has been featured around coffee shops, breweries, boutiques, interior design shops, galleries, art shows, printed on City Race T-shirts, and much more throughout the Midwest. Due to the high demand Kally started bringing her art to life through canvas, clothing and home décor with Kith & Whim!
