Just saw your story in CNBC and wanted to let you know that I think your name and concept of your business is brilliant! Crossing my fingers and toes that you win your case. Any person who can read and spell correctly would know the difference between the S&P and a cute coffee house. Good luck! Jolynn & Mike Len Name: J. Date: 08/29/06 Message: Standard and Poors should change their name! They could be Standard and Rich, cause it is rich that they think that people are so dumb they can't tell a DFW coffee shop from a NYC business that is mostly known only for compliling the S&P 500. Name: Big Fan Date: 08/28/06 Message: I am in the financial services business, just saw the CNBC interview. I have worked with S&P, they are a bunch of breaucrats. they will just try and legal expense you to death, hopefully you have some probono counsel. Name: Steve Wilson Date: 08/25/06 Message: Pascale! ARE YOU STILL THERE? YOU DON'T ANSWER MY EMAILS:( Hope to hear from you soon, Steve` Name: harper Date: 08/19/06 Message: How about changing your name to read 'NOT Standard & Poors' with the tagline: "Our advice is actually good!" I bet S&P pays you to change it back to the original name! Name: jack Date: 08/17/06 Message: upbeat, strong-minded and ready to tackle the world That's how I know you, don't change. Time to tickle their nose with their own high self importance. Maybe by "selling shares over the counter" Have a "bid and ask" on coffee prices. Do some stuff to draw pr about how high and mighty or ego driven they are. "The name Pascale is the Italian version of David. David is known for its great beauty in the Acadamia and for taking down the Giant." Go get em jack Name: Adrienne Date: 08/16/06 Message: It sounds like S&P are just being big MEANIES . I played at Standards and Pours on my tour this summer and was very impressed with the business, thriving community and amazing sound system there. I am back in NYC now. Here we know all about the big businesses (i.e. Starbucks) shutting down the smaller ones. Big business can be ruthless. In this case, the attack is substantially more ethically distasteful. I appreciate Pascale's dedication to her business and community. As difficult as it is to go up against S&P, the battle is of great importance. I will see what I can do to strum up some support and awareness for Standards and Pours here in NYC. With heart, Adrienne Name: Jason Date: 08/15/06 Message: I support you, Pascale - all the way! Your basement coffee shop has always welcomed me with much needed respite after a long day. Not only is the food delicious and the music fresh with talent and authenticity, but the staff is friendly and brimming with exceptional service! And what a great atmosphere, convenient, I could go on and on. I know weird things happen in this world all the time, but this truly boggles my mind. I cannot fathom how you could have damaged McGraw-Hill by your name selection. I hope you win and I hope you get seven figures out of those bastards for the stress and hardship they have inflicted on YOU! --Jason Name: bill holston Date: 08/14/06 Message: I'm truly sorry you are faced with these legal threats. They are not just or fair and are apparently financial bullying. Now that they have communicated their desire to protect their trademark, I hope they'll do the right thing and drop this matter, and agree with what we all know, that there is no deception or confusion of the public. They'll start worrying about their reputation in the community. I wish you the best. What a great venue, great people. It is a majical place. Hang in there. bill Name: Christopher Giles Date: 08/14/06 Message: Standard and Poor's serves Standard & Pours Coffee? Hi Pascale, Sorry that this has become a world where we just seem to sue everyone for just about anything... No matter how big they are, they will always come down. Ask how Linspire (formerly Lindows) went up against big bad Microsoft and won! Because Windows is really a generic term (aka Microsoft Windows) and isnt protected under copyright rules.... I wonder if there is any relevance you could use for your case..... I want to try and stop by soon, just been so busy lately its frustrating. I will drop sometime soon for a cup of joe. Chris G |
